Vecinos Food Pantry seeks to provide assistance to families who are food insecure for any reason. We do not require documentation or proof of need. When a family comes to the pantry, they are allowed to choose canned goods, dairy products, meat, dried goods, and fresh produce. Depending on the need, we serve from 5 to 30 families per week. Several recipients of food have come to help in many ways such as shopping, sorting and serving food.
The food pantry began in December of 2006 at al Frente de Lucha. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) raided the local JBS food packing plant leaving several families with no means of support. Later, al Frente requested relief, and the food pantry moved to Family of Christ. Although the original recipients no longer come to the pantry, we currently serve anyone who needs a hand up on Sundays from 11:45 – 1:00. Several church people and friends from other organizations sign up to help distribute food each week.
You may help with this ministry in several ways:
- Donate money to the church to help us buy food.
- Choose Family of Christ Vecinos Food Pantry, account #ED631, in Community Rewards in your King Sooper’s account. Once enrolled, King Sooper’s donates $5 to our food pantry for every $100 you spend.
