Pub Theology
First Tuesday of each month, Bessie Smith Community House, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Pizza and beverages are provided as we discuss a topic of importance to the public and its relationship to theology and our lives. James Shuman, retired Presbyterian pastor, is our leader. A cash donation is requested for refreshments.
Adult Education
Sunday mornings, Bessie Smith Community House, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Family of Christ sponsors education sessions for lifelong learners and folks who are just generally curious. Organized in topical series, these informal discussions are led by our pastor or by a lay leader and touch upon a wide variety of Biblical and secular themes.
Lectionary Discussion Group
Wednesday mornings, Bessie Smith Community House, 11:15 – 12:30 p.m.
Participants read the suggested scriptures from the lectionary (the common list of Bible passages for the week used by many denominations). Pastor Emory Gillespie facilitates the discussion of those passages as we look for comparisons to our world today, connections among the readings, and feelings those readings evoke.
