Pub Theology

First Tuesday of each month, Bessie Smith Community House, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Pizza and beverages are provided as we discuss a topic of importance to the public and its relationship to theology and our lives. James Shuman, retired Presbyterian pastor, is our leader. A cash donation is requested for refreshments.

Adult Education

Sunday mornings, Bessie Smith Community House, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

Family of Christ sponsors education sessions for lifelong learners and folks who are just generally curious. Organized in topical series, these informal discussions are led by our pastor or by a lay leader and touch upon a wide variety of Biblical and secular themes.

Political Action Support Group

Thursday evenings, Bessie Smith Community House, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Participants bring finger-foods to eat. We have an open forum to discuss current events and how we act in relation to them. We sometimes share current essays or historical documents from prominent writers.

Justice and Compassion Committee

First Monday of the month, varying local restaurants, 11:45 a.m.

Works on social justice issues such as meals for homeless folks, the food pantry, the sign in front of the church, advocacy letters on current issues, and dispensing mission funds. If interested in joining Justice and Compassion discussions, contact the church for the current Zoom link.

Spiritual Nurture Committee

Dates and times vary, usually during the first two weeks of the month

Helps guide the nurturance of our community through planning worship services with music and sacrament, organizing care of congregation, and providing fellowship opportunities to nurture spiritually. Buildings and Grounds Committee

Third Monday of even months, Bessie Smith Community House, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
